Emotional Intelligence in Transformational Leadership

Program Overview

Transformational leadership behaviours are essential if leaders are to thrive in a time of ever-increasing change and relentless competition. This Emotional Intelligence in Transformational Leadership course helps participants understand the behaviours involved in transformational leadership, and to know how to use these behaviours to enhance their leadership presence.


The program begins with developing an understanding of the values and behaviours involved in transformational leadership. From there, participants will be introduced to the verbal and non-verbal behaviours inherent in transformational leadership. Working in groups, delegates will refine nuanced ways of conveying the tenets of charismatic leadership. 


As a leader you are responsible for generating trust, building authentic relationships and effective teams.  It is vital that you lead by example and inspire excellence in others. This intensive course will help you to develop and apply your emotional intelligence skills as a leader. You will learn more about your mode and style of leadership to grow other people, enhance their performance and personal satisfaction.


People often talk about positive and negative emotions.  This is not that helpful as emotions cannot really be labelled in that way.  The course also covers the myths around positive and negative emotions and why this terminology is not appropriate when working to understand emotions and emotional intelligence in the workplace as a leader.

  1. Leave with an understanding that the very best of leadership is not about being motivational all the time with all your employees – it is about creating moments.
  2. Learn to create opportunities to help those around you want to excel, and want to move themselves, their peers and their organization forward.
  3. Understand what are the smallest things you can do through your leadership that will have a major impact on those around you.

  1. Discover ways of working with emotional intelligence that lead to better outcomes with the people that you are responsible for.
  2. Determine the best ways to manage and work with energy by utilising sources of energy to support energy dimensions.
  3. Explore behavioral preferences and how to work with others with different preferences.
  4. Determine how people would benefit from a coaching approach in changing circumstances.
  5. Examine your mode and style of leadership and what you need to do to get the most out of difficult situations.
  6. Recognise the importance of conflict and how you can work with it to build relationships.
  7. Differentiate your leadership capabilities through the application of emotional intelligence.
